I don't know if some of you might be put off by this picture, but i found it very attractive, not so much because it fits the theme of my blog but more so because i feel it actually deals with an issue that i've been trying to tackle myself. I think the picture's beautiful because what i see in it is a case of  our dual identities. It's like how many of us judge a person's looks and other externalities to be important or as strong indications of who and what that person really is, often disregarding the fact that beauty after all, is only skin deep. Cliche, i know, but many cliche things in life we tend to ignore by virtue of the fact that we consider them cliche, testaments to our mental ineptitude i feel. I've been wondering why sex to me has become so unfulfilling a topic to discuss, even among my fellow oversexed male friends. I think it has something to do with the fact that i study biology (physics, chem while we're at it). It has, for better or for worse, desensitized me to a lot of things. Sex, death, love - these things I would have ordinarily elevated and placed upon a pedestal to revere as respectable, and unavoidable, facets of life, but recently i find that they have become as uninspiring as a poor homily. Now i say homily because i still respect these things even if they've lost a little of their original significance to me. It's all very simple, really. Chemical substances, with a mix of nervous and hormonal control mechanisms, have undoubtedly set the stage for our everyday emotions to take form in what we say or do. For that reason alone have i found that if everything we do can be extrapolated backwards to one or several primal behavioural mechanisms, then everything as we know it has lost it's complexity. In my case, being the post-pubescent, on-off horny person that i am, sex, love, death and life, have suddenly been broken down into their substituents and look really small to me now. I suppose one could argue that it's a good thing i've finally gotten my libido in check, but in my opinion, i feel like i've lost part of that childhood ignorance that made everything magical.
