i dedicate this to you.

i've heard it all before, thomas you're a pig, thomas you're arrogant, thomas you're pompous, thomas you're strange and weird, but this one really takes the cake.
thomas, you wouldn't treat me as nicely as you do now if i looked any different.
i'll give it to whoever says i'm pompous and picky and strange and weird, but superficial? i won't say i'm not, because an argument like that holds no credit; seemingly empty words off the tip of a smooth tongue. but it hit me like a shard of ice when i heard it. we joke about it all the time, ogle at the sexy, pretty ones who walk by and make lewd comments here and there, but we don't mean it at all. if i choose to spend time with you its because i treasure your friendship and i feel comfortable with you, not because you look better than the person next to you.
it really sucks to have someone tell you something like that, but you don't know if you can deny it because you don't know for sure whether it really is a lie in itself. i was talking to kp about it, and we agree that on a subconcious level we probably feel more adjusted to ppl who are just more aesthetically pleasing. but how can a friendship be built on that alone? what then, after we've grown accustomed to someone's looks? what then, when age and everything around us has stripped us of our supple, tight skin?
i curse myself the day i choose my friends because of their looks.
and i curse myself the day i choose not to be your friend because you looked any different.
